Volta stabile
Fiore says: "a volta stabile is when, with both feet firm, you can play in front and behind on the same side." And: "All guards can do a volta stabile and a meza volta" It is also the principle means to create a rear-weighted guard position such as fenestra
Meza volta
Fiore says: "Meza volta si e che quando uno fa un passo o inanzi o indredo, e chossi po zugare de laltra parte denanzi e di dredo." "A meza volta (half turn) is when one makes a pass forwards or backwards, and thus can play on the other side in front or behind".
And "All guards can do a volta stabile and a meza volta".
