We build up to rapier and dagger fencing by first gaining reasonable control over the sword alone, then we use the following system. We build up to rapier and dagger fencing by first gaining reasonable control over the sword alone, then we use the following system to familiarise the students with:


*Parrying with the dagger alone


*Parrying with the dagger alone
*Parrying with the dagger while striking with the sword
 
*Feinting against the dagger
 
*Parrying with the dagger while doing a feint-disengage with the sword against the dagger
 
 
This naturally builds up the student's skill in using the dagger defensively.
