We emphasise three different ways to begin any play, where the actions are not precisely determined by the text. They are:

1: Choreographical: start by creating the picture. This is entirely artficial.

2. Attacker moves first: identify attack and remedy: the attacker strikes, the remedy is executed against it.

3: Remedy moves first: Fiore advises that immediately you become suspicious of his dangerous knife, go against it with your hands, arms and elbows. As the remedier enters, the attack is done to exploit his entry; the remedy is then executed against an attack that has been drawn.

The video shows these three ways to enter the first play of the first master.
